Welcome to ArirangFit: Where K-Flow Meets Yoga, Pilates, and Contemporary Movement!

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by.

For those who don’t know me yet, I teach Yoga and Pilates here at Syracuse University and the local YMCA.

My background is actually in Contemporary Dance (my major) and Korean Traditional Dance (my minor). For a long time, I’ve been thinking about how to bring these two worlds together in a way that feels fresh, fun, and genuinely good for the body.

And that’s how ArirangFit was born.

💡 The Story Behind It

When I’m teaching Pilates core work or leading a Vinyasa flow, I constantly see the overlap with Korean dance.

The deep core engagement we do in Pilates? It’s exactly like the Danjeon (lower belly) breathing in Korean dance. The deep lunges and squats? They perfectly match Gulshin—the fluid knee-bending movements that traditional dancers use to stay grounded.

So I thought: Why not mix them?

🌿 What to Expect in Class

ArirangFit isn't about wearing traditional costumes or learning rigid historical choreography. It’s a modern, fluid workout designed for everyone:

  • Beautiful Lines & Core Work: We’ll use elegant arm movements (Palsawi) to tone the upper body, and low-impact leg work to build real strength.

  • A Playlist You'll Love: We’ll move to a mix of modern beats—think chill K-Pop, cool lo-fi, and global pop tracks remixed with traditional Korean instruments. It’s incredibly therapeutic.

  • Mindful Sweat: You’ll get a great workout, but you'll also leave class feeling calm, centered, and deeply relaxed.

🎓 Syracuse Pilot: Spring 2027

I’m currently putting the finishing touches on the curriculum and playlist, and I'm super excited to pilot this as an elective course at Syracuse in Spring 2027!

Whether you’re one of my regular students, a K-culture fan, or just want to try a completely new way to move and sweat, I’d love to have you. No dance background needed at all—just bring yourself.

I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes updates, playlist previews, and mini-tutorials here as I get ready for the launch. Drop a comment below if you want to join the journey!
